Greetings! In this first week of October, when Canada celebrates the Mental Health Awareness Week, and shortly after that, on 10th the world celebrates Mental Heath Day, let me begin with wishes for your 'sound mind in a sound body'...
These days, the awareness about mental health and its importance is quite widespread, I find. If you ask people around you, almost anyone can give you a good list of do's and don'ts for keeping your mind healthy. But then, when you look around, you find so much of tension, mental stress and agony, failed relationships, maladjustment at the social and professional level, frustration, violence, depression, suicide... you tend to ask in your mind, what's wrong? what has gone missing? if so many people knew so much about mental hygiene, then what caused this outcome? The two just didn't match.
Possibly, the reason lies in the fact that all that we learn, we don't internalize. we talk about them, but forget to watch out for them in our own behavior, in our own system. they remain bookish knowledge, unimplemented in the practical course of life.
So friends, this year, as we observe the day dedicated world wide for the spread of mental health awareness, let's take a good look at ourselves, searching out areas we can work on, to improve our way of seeing, thinking, feeling and acting, on any given situation.
Let's be healthy, friends, in our thoughts and deeds!
Have a lovely weekend!
